Marin Attack Trail 6.8 2010
Typical Usage: Trail/All Mountain
Marin Bikes was established in 1986 in San Anselmo, California and celebrates its 23rd anniversary in 2009. The offices lie in the shadow of Mt. Tamalpais, commonly referred to as the birthplace of mountain biking and still at the heart of the sport. Since its formation, Marin has built it’s strong reputation upon a number of technological advancements including: Lightweight hard tail mountain bikes, Quad-Link Suspension, Performance orientated flat bar road bikes and city and urban bikes.
The Attack Trail 6.8 features all new tailored geometry for extreme trail and the Quad-Link 2.0 Suspesion system for extreme control with 150mm travel and a fully hydroformed frame for strength and lightweight. The Attack Trail also features the HammerShmidt ready and hose guides for a "gravity dropper" seat post this bikes are ready for any trail you can throw at it.
Hydroforming
Marin bike frames are constructed using Hydroforming which is done under room temperature under immense pressures. This construction method minimizes physically damage done to the tube during the forming process as well as maintaining the grain alignment of the material. Hydroforming also allows the creation of complicated 3-d engineered shapes so that the frames can be customised for the rider. The results of this is highly durable frames that are light weight.
Custom Butting
Every tube used in construction of Marin bikes begins life as a simple round tube and is transformed into a performance machine. The custom butting is a process where the plain round tube has material removed in order to make it lighter without sacrificing the strength. By customising this process for every Marin bike the ride quality for the rider is greatly increased.
Quad-Link Suspension
The award wining Quad Link 2.0 system provides riders with an efficient pedalling platform while managing terrain by modifying the axle ath of the wheel and leverage ratio of the shock to simultaneously react to pedal and bump forces. Because the swing arm is mounted to two links, it does not rotate from a single point or pivot. Instead the swing arm “floats” or rotates from a constantly moving pivo point in space. Due to this pivot point combined with the shocks leverage ratio and the axle path of the rear wheel change to allow the suspension can react differently to pedal or bump induced forces.
Key performance features
#Progressive shock leverage ratio resists blowing through travel and bottoming out on large impacts
#Short links equal quick change in leverage ratio to quickly adapt to trail conditions
#Intelligent Wheel Path moves rear wheel backwards and over the small hits
#Excellent mud clearance not characteristic of other 4 bar systems
#Chaingrowth early in the travel resists bob and improves traction
# Zero chaingrowth later in the travel virtually eliminates bob and pedal-induced lockout
#Lifetime warranty on bearings
#Patented 4 bar 4 bolt system exclusive to Marin minimises wear and tear on pivot points while reducing weight
Quad Trail 150
The Quad Trail 150 series receives an updated geometry encompassing a 150mm travel Quad Link suspension system with reshaped links that blend with the new frame and swing arm of the Attack Trail series.
