30 Day Test Ride

All the convenience of buying online, without the risk
When you buy a new bike at full RRP from rutlandcycling.com, you can now benefit from the added reassurance of our Rutland 30-day test ride. Once your new bike arrives, you can ride it as your own for 30 days, and we're confident you'll love it! However, if it's not right for you, we'll exchange it for another model. (There's a nominal charge of £10 for us to collect your bike - just make sure you keep the box your bike arrived in.)

On which bikes is the 30-day test ride available?
The Rutland 30-day test ride is available on all full price, non-discounted bikes available for home delivery on rutlandcycling.com. It is not available on discounted or special offer bikes, click and collect bikes, bikes bought on finance, bikes bought through Cyclescheme, or bikes bought in store. This offer is only available on bikes delivered to mainland UK addresses.

How does the test ride work?
Your 30-day test ride starts from the date your bike is delivered. You must notify us by email within 30 calendar days of delivery that you intend to return the bike within this scheme. This offer applies to all bikes purchased on or after 14th August 2014. To ensure you remain eligible, we would ask that you adopt a 'fair usage' attitude during the test ride period, and make sure there is no damage to the bike outside of the minimal wear you would expect from a bike ridden for 30 days or a few rides. Please note that any damage to the bike, including damage from incorrect assembly, will invalidate the test ride.

How many times can I use the 30-day test ride?
We will allow up to two exchanges within this scheme.

    * This TCX sizing chart refers to cyclocross racing use. If you will be primarily using your TCX for commuting or touring then you should use the next size down than the size stated in the chart. Eg if you are a medium on the chart based on your height and inside leg measurements, this medium size applies to racing use, but if you are touring or commuting you should use a small. This is because TCX frames do not use Compact Geometry - the frame needs to be larger for carrying the bike over the riders shoulder when navigating obstacles during cyclocross racing.

    WHAT ARE CYCLOCROSS BIKES?

Cyclocross bikes are versatile machines, and can be ridden on a variety of terrain and surfaces. While they are primarily designed for riding on a paved surface, they can also be ridden on smooth gravel roads, dirt or mud surfaces and improved trails with moderate grades, where the tyres do not lose ground contact. Cyclocross bikes also work well for all-weather rough-road riding and make great commuting bikes!

If you're looking for a bike to take off-road and along uneven mountain trails or singletrack, then a mountain bike would be a suitable choice. Cyclocross riders and racers dismount before reaching an obstacle, carry their bike over the obstacle, then re-mount. Cyclocross bikes are not intended for mountain bike use. Their relatively large 700c size wheels are faster than the smaller 26" mountain bike wheels, but not as strong.

    Road.cc Review

"The Revolt isn’t an easy bike to categorise. If we were in the US we could do so by just calling it a gravel bike, but since we don’t have many gravel tracks in the UK, it instead looks like the ideal sort of bike for people who like to mix in some off-road riding, whether it's woodland bridleways, canal towpaths or other unsurfaced paths, with a good dose of regular roads too. Simply put, if you want a road bike with the potential to venture away from the Tarmac, the Revolt is for you. One thing is for sure, the Revolt looks like a lot of fun."…Read full review

After looking at this bike, and many many others, I settled on this model, the Revolt 1, the 2 and 3 have the same frame but I wanted the better brakes, so the 3 dropped out, I wanted better Rims and a compact groupset so the Revolt 1 it was. Being 62" I was either a M/L or L so my advice is to ride them if possible. At the Giant store in Normanton I rode both frame sizes and after much tweaking with the bikes with the aid of Paul from Rutland Cycles it was clear that a Large frame with lots of adjustments was the bike for me. Giant will say I am a Large but for competition riding and n M/L for normal riding, so get fitted is my advice. I rode the bike home from Normanton to Bedford, a trio of 52 miles and I loved it! Note to self however is to take some Allen Keys. About 15 miles from home the seat was so loose I could turn it around 360 degrees or up and down. My own fault but the PDI could have been better. 15 miles out of the saddle was tough lol! But I will not forget my Allen keys ever! In summary an excellent bike and would thoroughly recommend to all.

Absolutely fantastic bike. I come from a mountain bike background and was wary of anything that had drop bars but this allayed my fears. Great handling, comfy riding position and so fast! Rugged enough if I venture off the beaten path, Id recommend for anyone thinking about getting a road / commuter bike. One annoying point, my front wheel arrived with a loose piece if swarf stuck rattling around inside the rim, driving me insane!

I wanted a bike that would zip along the roads but that could be ridden on cobbles, gravel, mud - along towpaths, farm tracks, country lanes in addition to roads and that would accommodate a rack and my panniers from time to time. Having done my research I opted for this and being 64" went for the XL same as my Giant Defy. Ive been on the Revolt three times since a week ago when I got it has exceeded my expectations. If moves quickly along roads, but also allows you to hit the gravel, cobbles without fear of a puncture. I have found it to be excellent in mud too with the tyres gripping well. The 34T ring on the cassette has come in useful on steep hills as too have the additional brake levers allowing you to stay sat upright and break without having to changing position. It feels light (just under 12kg size XL), feels sturdy and rides really well. I can see the road bike getting it nose pushed out and gathering dust now! Adventure bike is a spot on description for this bikes capabilities. The service from Rutland was faultless.

Once i opened the box which stood taking up an entire room of my house, i found this superb bike. Lighter than my last bike, makes a 20 mile-a-day commute across mixed terrain an absolute breeze. Love the vast gear range and it is pretty comfortable even on longer and rougher journeys. I wish it didnt look so excellent so I could stop cleaning it! At this price, absolute bargain

I bought this bike because I wanted something I could hop straight on to and head out on the road and do some bridleways etc on route. It fits the bill perfectly and is a really good bike. Im normally a mountain biker and this is surprisingly comfy and didnt take me long to get used to the drop bars and riding position. Very much reminds me of a 90s hardtail mountain bike experience. The spec is great and everything just works. The brakes work well. Ive done a fair few miles and the tyres roll well on the road and grip pretty well off-road. Im 6ft1 and went for the ML size and its perfect. Its not the lightest of bike but the only downside to me is its black, very black and I wanted something a bit more colourful!

This is an excellent bike - like the love child of a Giant Defy and a rugged MTB. 24 hours in and have now set the bike up as I need it - XL with the stem flipped and the handlebars rotated slightly towards me. Gear set is sharp, brakes - once bedded in - are all you expect from the type. Not yet used in anger though. Must comment on Rutlands service - bottom line is I do not know how they do it so well. Next day delivered at 07:45am all ready to go. Fabulous service in every regard.

The pre-inspection could have been better, but once Id sorted the gears and a couple of other things I got to ride a great bike for the money. Its not road bike light, thats not what I was looking for, but its not heavy either. I wanted a faster commuter bike than my mountain bike but also something that could handle some off road as well. The Giant Revolt did not disappoint. It flies on the road and the geometry combined with the disc brakes and grippy tyres gives you confidence off road. It is the perfect companion to my MTB and will get some serious miles in over the summer taking the interesting way back home from work as well as the tamer rides that my FS is that bit too much for. Great Bike.

I wanted a do anything bike that I could use as a commuter, do the odd trail but also take part in road events without being embarrassed. I agonised for a while between the Revolt and an equally expensive Defy but chose the Revolt and have been delighted with it ever since. Its tough enough to go off road and very versatile but with a pair of slick tyres its quite zippy as well. I live in London (but from Rutland originally) so ordered from Rutland Cycling mainly because local shops didnt have my size. However, I was very impressed with the quick and friendly service when ordering and the bike was in excellent condition and ready to go when I unboxed it upon delivery. Would strongly recommend both the bike and the Rutland Cycling team.

  • Hi, I'm 6 ft 4 with 35 inch inseam. Which frame would better suit me L or XL. Arm lenght is pretty much in line with total height. Will you the bike mostly on tarmac with occasional dirt roads etc. Thanks!
Question asked by John on Apr 15 2016 9:53PM
You would be best suited to an extra large frame. This is intended for paved roads, gravel and dirt roads/tracks and good condition bike paths. I wouldn't use this for any types of mountain biking or jumping.

you are quite right, a large would be a great starting place for you. The best thing to do would be to pop in store and try one out to see how it feels and go from there.
