Giant Bicycles were founded by possibly the world's most passionate cyclist. With the coolest name. Ever. King Liu is 77 and is still riding. At the age of 73 he cycled the length of Taiwan, then two years later he cycled from Beijing to Shanghai. In 2011 he lit up Taiwan's GPS network by getting 72,918 other Taiwanese to pedal around and simultaneously send the same text message.
Giant started by making bicycle frames for other companies in 1972, before deciding they were so good at it they may as well put their own name on it and in 1986 the Giant brand was born. Development into a leading designer was swift with the launch of the TCR, co-designed with British legend Mike Burrows. The TCR was the first road bike to feature compact geometry and aerodynamic forks, paving the way for bike design focusing on performance AND comfort. Ground-breaking mountain biking innovation soon followed and in 2006, the legendary Maestro suspension system hit the trails.
You can test ride both of cycling’s iconic creations along with the rest of the Giant range, including the Defy, Anthem, Revel, Roam, Rove and XtC, 7 days a week at our Giant store at beautiful Rutland Water. King Liu is probably just about to head there himself. From Taiwan. On a bike.
