Upcoming rides and events
We are enormously proud of our staff and the many ways they go the extra mile for our customers and the local community. As part of our commitment to inspire more people to get out cycling, we offer a range of regular led rides, including senior cyclist rides and women's rides in partnership with British Cycling's Breeze campaign. These rides are free to attend, and we further encourage participation by offering substantial discounts off cycle hire, so that bike ownership is not a barrier. Read on to find out which rides we are currently running - we look forward to welcoming you on one of our rides soon.
Rides
Weekly Breeze Women's Ride
When: Every Thursday at 6:15pm (Lasts approximately 1 hour)
Where to meet: Fineshade store
Suitable for: all, including beginners
Price: Free using your own bike, or £5 to hire a bike and helmet
Every Thursday a group of like-minded ladies will be cycling from our Fineshade Cycling store. The route will take in a leisurely 5.5 mile scenic woodland trail, around the completely traffic-free Fineshade Woods. The ride will give all women the chance to gain confidence and make friends in the warmer and lighter evenings of Summer. You might even see one of the many Red Kites in their adopted habitat. We look forward to welcoming you at one of our rides in the near future.
This ride is part of British Cycling's Breeze campaign, to get more women out on their bikes!

Mums and Tots Cycling Group
When: Every Friday at 10.00am.
Where: From our Normanton, Whitwell or Fineshade store
Price: Free using your own bike. (Discounted hire rates available)
Are you a new mother and want to start spending some time outside in beautiful surroundings with your new addition to the family?
Working in partnership, Rutland Cycling and British Cycling have joined forces to set up a range of female-specific rides - although here at Rutland Cycling we like to be inclusive, and so any Dads, grandparents and carers are very welcome to come along, too! Each week, a ride takes place from one of the Rutland Cycling sites and heads out for a gentle ride lasting around 90 minutes, including that all-important juice and biscuit stop.
Rides are led by Rutland Cycling's very own new mum, Sally, who understands exactly the pressures new parents face especially with the logistical headache that can present itself when heading out from the safety of your own home, and as such comes prepared with tips and helpful hints on cycling with a young child.

Giant 365
When: 365 days a year!
Where: Giant Store Normanton
Price: A £25 deposit is required and £20 of that is refundable upon returning the timing chip and map
In partnership with our friends at Giant, Rutland Cycling plays host to a permanent sportive that can be ridden any day of the year. With two routes options there is something for the seasoned sportive rider who wants to tackle the full 96 mile loop and a shorter option of 62 miles for those feeling a little less energetic.
Collect your timing chip and weather proof route map from the Giant Store on Rutland Water and off you go. There is even the option of hiring a top of the range road bike if you fancy trying to emulate Luis Léon Sanchez from the Rabobank Pro Cycling team.
Intermediate timing stations are located along the route so you can keep an eye on how well you perform over the entirety of the route and allow you to pause your time when it comes to stopping for that all important tea stop.
Finishing the route off at the Giant store, all that is left to do is hand in your timing card and see how you stack up against everyone else.

Silver Cyclist Group
When: Every Tuesday at 10.30am.
Where: Giant-Rutland Store
Price: Free
With the weather set to warm up over the next few weeks, we will be reintroducing our Senior Cyclist Group rides.
The Silver Cyclist ride will take place every Tuesday as of 9th April from our Giant-Rutland store and will be at a steady pace riding towards the Whitwell store for a much deserved hot beverage before cycling back towards the Giant store.

Want to ride with some of the best up and coming female riders? Then join us on the 25th of June for your chance to ride with the Scott Contessa Team. After the ride there will be a talk by the team. If you're an avid female racer then you won't want to miss this opportunity.
Women's Maintenance Evenings
Ever wondered how to fix that stiff cable? Come along to one of our maintenance classes this June to discover the basics of bike maintenance from fixing a puncture to indexing your gears. We have two classes for you to attend:

Active Rutland Walking and Cycling Festival - 18th May to 1st June 2013
Rutland Cycling, in partnership with Active Rutland, have organised a range of FREE rides and events to celebrate our county's beautiful landscape and its many scenic cycle routes. The two-week-long event kicks off with the BIG Cycling Launch on Sat 18th May, and throughout the fortnight there are rides to suit everyone, including nature rides, family rides, senior cyclist rides and the Rutland Water Blitz for the more adventurous among you!
