Kona was founded by Dan Gerhard & Jacob Heilbron in 1988. The first Kona bikes to hit the market were custom cross-country mountain bikes developed to fit their style of riding: fast, tough and far. Twenty years later and Kona are still doing it the same way, making tough, thoughtful, reliable and well balanced bikes. Over the previous 20 years Kona have continued to refine biking with the rider always coming first. This leads to high quality fun bikes.
Kona are constantly evaluating and adjusting the design of their bikes for the demands of the rider or new technologies developed. Instead of making their older models obsolete Kona decide to fine tune and re-invent the already proven designs to offer top quality bikes year after year.
