How to hire a bike

Step 1. Choose a venue

Rutland Water

Whitwell (North Shore) & Normanton (South Shore)

Rutland Water - a magical place for cycling

Rutland is a magical place for cycling. Since 1981 we have been introducing people of all ages to the delights to be found by bike around the water's edge and beyond. Hire a bike from our Whitwell or Normanton centre and enjoy 23 miles of traffic-free waterside tracks – or take to the lanes and discover Rutland's hidden delights on two wheels.

As passionate cyclists, we don't think there is a better way to explore the area. There is an incredible richness of flora and fauna to enjoy on your trip. A highlight for many is the Ospreys who reside here from April to September. 2001 saw the first Osprey chick to fledge in central England in 150 years and now there are several pairs at Rutland. Yet there is much more: a wide variety of hawks, waders, warblers and songbirds can be seen at all times of year. Can you spot a really rare beast though; will you see the fabled Rutland Panther?

Around the Water's edge is a variety of welcoming cafes, pubs and restaurants, many of which provide special offers to our cyclists. With a wealth of attractions nearby and comfortable places to stay, we are sure you will have a wonderful visit.

Rutland Water - Whitwell Centre

On Rutland Water's North shore, our flagship centre at Whitwell has the widest range of hire bikes in Europe.

Rutland Water - Normanton Centre (Giant-Rutland)

Discover the South shore of Rutland Water on a new-season Giant bike from Giant-Rutland at Normanton, the world's biggest Giant bikes concept store.

Grafham Water

Near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire

Grafham Cycling

Grafham Water is Cambridgeshire's prettiest and best-kept secret and there is no better way to explore it than by bike. Come and discover the tranquil waterscapes, varied wildlife and diverse habitats of this wonderful location, a Site of Special Scientific Interest which attracts around 170 species each year. Enjoy 10 miles of peaceful waterside pedalling, or adventure out onto local bridleways along the Three Shires Way.

The variety of wildlife and beautiful wild flowers means there is always something to see, whatever the season. On your cycling adventure you will doubtless see many other water users: fishermen after trout, sailors and windsurfers before the wind, and nature spotters revelling in this unique location. Grafham Water has also become one of the most important bird watching sites in Britain.

Whichever route you choose, we're sure you'll have a fantastic time on two wheels at Grafham.
