How will my bike arrive?

All our premium bikes are ready to ride when they arrive at your door. Our Cytech-qualified technicians will build and test your bike before carefully packing it in an oversized bike box, ready for despatch. All you have to do is add the pedals, tighten the handlebars and you’re ready to go!

If you have ordered a bike from one of the following brands:

Barracuda, Blazer, Bumper, Coyote, Cuda, Dahon, Dawes, Diamondback, Forme, Gateway, Halcyon, Haro, Huffy, Mongoose, Peugeot, Raleigh, Rooster, Viking

Your bike will arrive in a bike box, part-assembled. In most cases, a few minor adjustments are all that’s needed; for some models, you’ll need some tools and an hour or so. To help you, we’ve produced a handy video on how to assemble a mountain bike:

Please note: for your peace of mind and to ensure your warranty remains valid, if you have ordered a bike requiring assembly, we advise using a qualified bike technician to set up your bike.

When will my package arrive?

We know you want your stuff already! Our warehouse team works flat out to pick, pack and post your parcel as fast as is humanly possible. Ultimately, the time your parcel takes to arrive on your doorstep depends on three things: whether your items are in stock, how quickly they’re despatched, and how quickly they get delivered. As far as the first two are concerned, we offer the following commitment:

“If an item is in stock, and you order before midnight (UK time), we’ll ship it within 1 working day.”

We ship all items as Royal Mail 1st or 2nd Class, or by 24- or 48-hour courier, as standard (see below for full details). So, your package will usually arrive within 2-7 days of placing your order.

For orders consisting of multiple items, we will ship your items as they are available. If everything you’ve ordered is in stock, we’ll ship it together in one parcel. If any item is delayed, we’ll ship the rest of your order anyway. This may mean you receive more than one package from us, but this won’t affect your postage charge.

Can I track my package?

That depends on the carrier we’ve used to send your package. We use several different carriers, depending on the size and/or weight of your package. In general, smaller, lighter packages are sent via Royal Mail, which cannot be tracked. Large or bulky packages are sent by Parcelforce/TNT/DHL, all of which can be tracked. (Scroll down for further details.)

If we’ve sent your package via a carrier that uses tracking, you’ll automatically receive an email from the carrier, with details of how to track your package. So, if you haven’t received this email, then your package will be arriving via Royal Mail.

What do your delivery messages mean?

In stock – usually despatched in 24 hours

If an item displays this message, it’s in our warehouse and if you place your order before midnight (UK time), we’ll ship within 1 working day – if not sooner!

In stock – usually built & despatched in 4 working days

If a bike displays this message, it’s in our warehouse and is ready to be professionally built by our Cytech-qualified technicians before being despatched to you. This can take up to 4 working days, but is often much quicker. A member of our bike sales team will be in touch as soon as it’s ready, to arrange a suitable delivery slot.

Available – usually despatched in 3-5 working days

When we know that a product has an excellent supply chain, we will sometimes list it as ‘Available’ when it isn’t physically in our warehouse. This means that when you place an order, your item will be despatched from our warehouse as soon as the stock arrives with us from the supplier. Rest assured that we only show this option when a product is readily available from the supplier, allowing you to order with confidence, rather than having to wait to place your order until the item has come back into stock.

Available to order – usually despatched in 2-3 weeks

When an item is out of stock and we know that the lead time with our supplier is between 1-2 weeks, we will list the item as ‘Available to order.’ This means that when you place an order, your item will normally be despatched within 2-3 weeks from our warehouse as soon as the stock arrives with us from the supplier. This allows you to order with confidence, rather than having to wait to place your order until the item has come back into stock.

In-store collection only

We are unable to send out some of our products by post – if you see this message on one of our product pages, you can still purchase the item online, however you will need to collect it from one of our stores.

When you place your order, please tell us which store you would like to collect your item from, in the Customer Notes section of the checkout page. Find your nearest store.

Delivery costs

We are pleased to offer FREE UK standard delivery on all orders over £30.  We can also guarantee next-day delivery for an extra fee.

For orders under £30, the delivery charge is £2.99.

Is there free UK shipping for everywhere in the UK?

We currently only offer free shipping and returns to orders destined for a UK mainland address. If you live in Northern Ireland, the Scottish Islands, The Isle of Man or the Channel Islands there will be a delivery charge – our carriers impose an extra surcharge for delivery to these regions and in order to keep our prices competitive, we are unable to offer free delivery. Please note that delivery times may also be extended slightly for these regions. Delivery costs vary depending on the size of your item – we’ll calculate these for you at checkout, but here is a guide:

  • Small packages – from £6.99
  • Medium packages – from £10.99
  • Large packages – from £19.99
  • Bike – from £39.99

Delivery methods – which carriers do we use?

We use several different carriers for UK and worldwide orders. The size and/or weight of your package will define which carrier we use, and we reserve the right to decide which delivery service to use for every order. In general, we allocate parcels as below.

Royal Mail: 1st or 2nd class postage with NO signature required on delivery. Used for smaller packages that can usually fit through your letterbox. Orders usually arrive next working day, although occasionally delays can occur. No tracking information available.

Parcel Force, TNT, DHL: Up to 48-hour delivery to anywhere in the UK. Used for all bikes, and large, high value and bulky packages. Signature required on delivery. Detailed online tracking information available – you will receive full tracking details via email once your item has despatched.

What happens if I am not home?

Royal Mail will leave the package at your nearest post office for you to collect. They will leave a calling card to say they have attempted delivery and at which post office your parcel is being held for collection. You also have the option to reschedule a redelivery, free of charge – see the calling card for details.

Parcel Force, TNT and DHL will leave a calling card if they were unable to deliver. You will then be able to schedule a redelivery, free of charge – see the calling card for details.

Can you guarantee next day delivery?

Yes we can! If you order before 12 noon UK time, we can guarantee next working day delivery on all* in-stock items. This is a premium service and costs £9.99 for most items (some very heavy/bulky items may cost more). To arrange guaranteed next day delivery, just give us a call on 01572 332 032.

*This excludes premium bikes, which we professionally build before sending out – these take up to 4 working days to build and despatch.

International delivery

How long will delivery take?

For orders to most European countries you can expect to take delivery within 7 to 10 days. For orders outside the European Union orders may take up to 15 days. All our international orders  will require a signature. If you haven’t received your order within these time frames then please let us know.

Will I have to pay additional charges?

For all international orders, we reserve the right to change the postage charge if additional charges are imposed on us by the carrier. If this happens, we will always contact you via email before processing your order. We will offer you the option of cancelling your order if you do not wish to pay the higher postal charge.

Are there any products you don’t send internationally?

We are unable to ship liquids and some pressurized items outside of the UK.

How much does delivery cost?

You will see the cost of delivery once you go to the checkout.  Rutland Cycling has a range of delivery charges dependent on the items you are purchasing and the country you live in. See the list below to see our current international delivery costs:

If the item(s) you have purchased are unsuitable or no longer required you will be liable for the return postage. Goods can be returned within 30 days of receipt and must be in re-saleable condition and accompanied by a returns form.

To return bikes or bulky items such as child seats or turbo trainers please contact us to arrange a courier collection.

Call us on 00 44 1572 33 20 33

Email us: enquiries@rutlandcycling.co.uk

Please note: Depending on the reasons for returning an item a collection charge may be incurred.

VAT and customs

There are no import/export duties on goods shipped within the European Union. All goods shipped to EU countries already have the relevant VAT included.
Shipments sent outside the European Union are sold exclusive of VAT and your package may be subject to import duties and taxes, once it reaches your country. You are responsible for paying any additional charges for customs clearance; unfortunately we have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. We are unable to reimburse any costs incurred, regardless of the circumstances. For details of these charges, please consult your own Customs authorities for the latest rates.

Please note: we are legally required to declare the full value of goods (not including shipping charges) on all packages sent outside the European Union. It is a criminal offence to falsify the details on this form. We cannot inaccurately describe the contents, claim a lower value or mark as a gift. Please do not ask, or expect us to do any of the above.

Delayed orders

On the rare occasion that an item is temporarily unavailable from our suppliers, we will email you straight away. We will offer you the choice of continuing to wait, ordering an alternative or cancelling your order.

My order has not arrived – what should I do?

Please note: if you have instructed the courier to leave your package on your doorstep or in another insecure place, we cannot claim for missing items or damage to your package. We therefore strongly recommend that you ask the courier to leave your package with a trusted neighbour, or collect it from a local delivery depot.

Step 1: Firstly, check to see if you have received an email from us, telling you your order has been sent.

If your order has been sent via Royal Mail

This applies to most smaller packages that can usually fit through your letterbox and any order value under £70. Royal Mail’s procedure for lost items and incorrect deliveries is that we must wait 2 weeks before registering an item as lost. If your package goes missing and you would like us to send you a replacement within this 2-week period, we hope you understand that to prevent fraud, we will need to charge you for your item(s) again. If your package is subsequently officially declared as lost by Royal Mail, we will of course refund you for all lost item(s).

If your order has been sent via Parcelforce, TNT or DHL

This applies to all bikes, and to large, high value or bulky packages. Firstly, check to see if you have received your tracking email from the courier. Then, follow the instructions in that email to trace your package online. If you are still unable to trace your package, then we’ll do our best to help – just email us or give us a call on 01572 332 032.

Step 2: If you haven’t received any emails confirming your order, then email us or give us a call on 01572 332 032 and one of our customers service team will be able to help.

Damaged parcels

If your goods are damaged in transit, please contact us as soon as you have received them, either via email or phone: 01572 332 032.

We do our best to ensure items arrive in good condition. In the rare event of a problem with your delivery, please either do not accept delivery or sign for the item as “damaged”, or “unchecked” if you do not have the opportunity to inspect on delivery. You must inform us by email of any such problems within 7 working days. We can then take the best course of action for you and the particular item.

Please note that proof of purchase is required with all potential warranty claims.
If you return something due to it being faulty or damaged, we’ll refund postage costs up to a maximum of £25. However, we can usually have items collected at a much better postage rate, so give us a call or email us first.

Please note: if you have instructed the courier to leave your package on your doorstep or in another insecure place, we cannot claim for missing items or damage to your package. We therefore strongly recommend that you ask the courier to leave your package with a trusted neighbour, or collect it from a local delivery depot.

Your delivery address

Once we have processed your order, we are unable to change the delivery address. If you have selected a different delivery address to that of your billing address we reserve the right to only deliver your order to your billing address. If we believe your order is being sent to your work address we may on occasion contact them to confirm your details.

Therefore, please provide us with a delivery address where there will be someone in to sign for your package. If you are out when the couriers call, they will leave a card. You can then go online or phone them to arrange delivery for another day. Alternatively, you can collect your goods from the courier’s local depot.

Please Note: Deliveries cannot be made to PO Box addresses or BFPO.
