Turbo Trainers

Turbo Trainers

Turbo Trainers are comprised of a frame, a clamp to support the bike securely, a roller which presses against the rear wheel and a resistance system which is designed to offer the perfect training session. This resistance can be created through a wide range of designs.

A wind turbo trainer utilizes a set of fan blades which rotate when the rear wheel is in motion to create air resistance, these trainers are usually the least expensive option but suffer from loud noise due to the fan blades. Magnetic trainers use two opposing magnets to create a high level of resistance and offer the balance between cost and noise, some of these magnetic trainers feature handle bar mounted levers to change the resistance on the fly.

Fluid trainers offer the smoothest and quietest running trainers which use a liquid filled unit to create resistance. Although these trainers are normally the most expensive the smooth and efficient design offers the best training performance. A tiny number of turbo trainers use traditional pressure devices to create their resistance and offer performance close to that of fluid trainers, these devices can include plates, ball bearings and specifically shaped lines. At Rutland Cycling we offer the best cheap turbo trainers at amazing prices
