Countless hours of design tinkering, extensive number crunching and endless test laps have all gone into designing the Specialized S-Works Epic to ensure that not a single speck of speed has been left on the table.
The Epic provides both the efficiency of a hardtail and the capability of a full-suspension bike providing an impressively quick and capable ride that has led to over 100 World Cup wins and podiums as well.
The redesign of the Epic focused on creating a frame that had maximal power transfer efficiency and improved handling. The 15% stiffer rear triangle lets the latest Epic make full use of the most efficient BRAIN suspension created yet. Specialized has also completely overhauled the carbon layup of the top-flight 12M carbon frame, sending the already sky-high stiffness to weight ratio even further into the clouds. The cherry on the cake is a carbon fibre shock link, which shaves over 100 grams off the total frame weight compared to the previous iteration of the S-Works Epic frame.
The Specialized BRAIN suspension system has 100mm of smooth travel front and rear letting the Epic live up to the standard that it was born for, to slash your fastest trail times and raise you up the race rankings. The latest system ensures every watt is converted into forward motion and not wasted on pointless suspension travel whilst still soaking up the impact from bumps and hits as you would expect. A RockShox SID SL Ultimate shock and fork combine with the latest BRAIN technology to reset the standard for efficiency.
SRAM Level Ultimate brakes provide top quality stopping power and perfect modulation when it comes to keeping the Epic's lightning speed in check, it also keeps the weight low too. SRAM's flagship XX1 Eagle AXS delivers the crispest shifting around over a wide cassette ratio with 12 gears, completely wireless for fuss-free shifting that's as efficient and smooth as possible, designed to withstand World Cup winning power through the drivetrain while delivering instantaneous shifting that never misses a beat. The Epic S-Works not only handles race-winning power, it measures it too, equipped as standard with a Quarq XX1 power meter.
The Roval Control SL carbon rims were created specifically to match the increased capabilities of the Epic, with a 29mm wide internal rim width which not only increases durability and strength but also reduces weight as well as the chances of picking up a pinch flat by 22%. If you want to eliminate pinch flats altogether, make the simple conversion to tubeless on the Roval Control SL wheelset to further reduce your weight and puncture risk, while also increasing your comfort and lowering your rolling resistance, adding even more speed to your ride.
