30 Day Test Ride

All the convenience of buying online, without the risk
When you buy a new bike at full RRP from rutlandcycling.com, you can now benefit from the added reassurance of our Rutland 30-day test ride. Once your new bike arrives, you can ride it as your own for 30 days, and we're confident you'll love it! However, if it's not right for you, we'll exchange it for another model. (There's a nominal charge of £10 for us to collect your bike - just make sure you keep the box your bike arrived in.)

On which bikes is the 30-day test ride available?
The Rutland 30-day test ride is available on all full price, non-discounted bikes available for home delivery on rutlandcycling.com. It is not available on discounted or special offer bikes, click and collect bikes, bikes bought on finance, bikes bought through Cyclescheme, or bikes bought in store. This offer is only available on bikes delivered to mainland UK addresses.

How does the test ride work?
Your 30-day test ride starts from the date your bike is delivered. You must notify us by email within 30 calendar days of delivery that you intend to return the bike within this scheme. This offer applies to all bikes purchased on or after 14th August 2014. To ensure you remain eligible, we would ask that you adopt a 'fair usage' attitude during the test ride period, and make sure there is no damage to the bike outside of the minimal wear you would expect from a bike ridden for 30 days or a few rides. Please note that any damage to the bike, including damage from incorrect assembly, will invalidate the test ride.

How many times can I use the 30-day test ride?
We will allow up to two exchanges within this scheme.

It can cut the risk of heart disease by up to 50%, make you feel happier, and you’re often more productive at work when you arrive. Despite this, only 4%.... More Read Post

2015 Specialized Crosstrail Sport Disc Review

15/01/2015 16:04:07 The Specialized Crosstrail is a Rutland Cycling favourite, and for very good reason. While many riders focus their riding on either road or trail, with a bike for each, there are just as many cyclists who want one bike that’ll go everywhere. The Specialized Crosstrail Sport Disc is the perfect example of a do-it-all cycle, offering a perfect balance of.... More Read Post

Disc Brakes or Cantilevers: Which are Better?

23/12/2014 19:28:00 It’s an increasingly common question: are the new disc brakes appearing on 2015 road and cyclocross bikes better than traditional cantilever or calliper brakes? Wiggy and Adam took two Specialized Crux Elites, one with hydraulic discs and one with cantilevers, to a muddy Rutland field and tested them head to head. “I have always found cyclocross.... 04/12/2014 14:50:28 ★★★★★ 5/5 Rutland’s Sally Middlemiss test rode the new 2015 Liv Invite 1 women’s cyclocross bike and found it a lively, versatile addition to Giant’s Liv tribe, delivering a fast, fun, comfortable ride on roads, gravel and trails. Abbreviated by those in the know to “cross,” cyclocross is the en vogue discipline of the moment..... More Read Post

2015 Specialized Diverge Review

14/11/2014 14:31:08 ‘Jack of all trades’ is a term usually levelled at somebody, backhandedly, who claims to be able to do everything. It’s usually followed by ‘Master of none’ indicating that they spend so much time doing a bit of everything that really they never get to grips with any one thing in particular. The ‘Jack’ of cycling has long been established.... More Read Post

Altura Vapour Jacket Review

10/11/2014 16:53:06 ★★★★☆ 4.5/5 “Up there with the best: a performance jacket that does a great job in the wet and cold. Hard to beat for technical performance at this price.” Recently, David has pulled a ‘reverse roadie’ and upped his mileage for Winter season. All was well with temperatures still heading north of 15 Celsius.... More Read Post

Q&A: Are Cheap Bike Lights Any Good?

30/10/2014 09:59:00 Recently, online marketplaces like eBay have become awash with “bargain” bicycle lights with fantastic Lumen outputs. They will melt the scenery with an output to rival a solar flare without melting your bank balance – right?  We took a closer look and found all is not what it seems. The old adage, ‘you get what you pay.... More Read Post

Top 5 Maintenance Tips for your Bike This Winter

10/10/2014 13:51:00 As we are all aware, thanks largely to the likes of the Daily Mail and Daily Express, the big freeze is only just around the corner. This is bad news for your trusty steed as the rain and salt on the roads can all exacerbate the wear and tear on your bike. So, what can you do.... More Read Post

A Beginner’s Guide to Cyclocross. Or, What Do You Call a Lost Roadie?

30/09/2014 13:16:36   To the un-initiated, a cyclocross race appears to be a peloton which took a wrong turn somewhere and somehow wound up in the middle of a field covered in manure. But cyclocross is actually an ancient cycling discipline steeped in history. It already produces household-name-celebrities in Belgium, and it’s becoming seriously popular in the UK, too. .... Specialized Sirrus Elite 2013 Product Review | Rutland Cycling

29/08/2013 19:39:00 A tough hybrid from Specialized that’ll offer the same low rolling resistance and componentry of a decent road bike, but with the ergonomics and durability of an upright commuter. The Specialized Sirrus Elite is the perfect urban vehicle to use at times when the full spandex get-up isn't suitable, but without giving up the quality features of the road bike.... More Read Post
