The Details

Specialized have designed the Recon 2.0 to provide maximum performance and comfort. Even people who aren't competing at the top of the sport value performance and comfort. Inspired by the S-Works Recon but with Body Geometry comfort and efficiency, the Recon 2.0 puts performance within easy reach.

The Recon 2.0 uses Specialized's exclusive STRIDE toe-flex technology. The nylon outsole has a TPU injected forefoot to help with natural movement off the bike, whilst still providing a stiffness index of 6.0 for outstanding performance when on the bike. The heel has also been lifted to give a more natural feeling whilst walking.

To create traction whilst walking in the shoes, whether wet, dry, gravel or dirt, the nylon outsole has been covered with Specialized's SlipNot compound. If it's wet, you know that the XPEL mesh used through the Recon 2.0 will not get filled with water and will dry quickly. You will never have to worry about wet mountain bike shoes the next day again.

The shoes are adjusted with an L6-Snap Boa and a Velcro forefoot closure to ensure you have micro-adjustable comfort with a secure fit designed for all-day comfort and performance. You can be comfortable and powerful all day on gravel, single track or even hike-a-bike.

  • Body Geometry sole and footbed are built with purpose and backed by science to boost power, increase efficiency, and reduce the chance of injury by optimizing hip, knee, and foot alignment.
  • Injection STRIDE toe-flex technology allows for natural toe movement off-bike but remains stiff for pedalling: Stiffness index 6.0
  • Welded upper reduces seams for superior step-in comfort.
  • BOA® L6-Snap dials for on-the-fly micro-adjustment.
  • SlipNot™ rubber tread for confident traction on all terrain.
  • Two-bolt cleat pattern fits all major MTB pedals.
  • Approximate weight: 357g (1/2 pair, Size 42)

Our Verdict

A shoe that is built for mountain bikers who value performance and comfort when they are in the saddle but also when walking.

Footwear Size Guide

Purchasing a pair of cycling shoes for the first time can lead to a lot of questions. We at Rutland Cycling have over 30 years of shoe fitting experience, so here are some key pointers to look out for when buying a new pair:

1. When deciding what size cycling shoes to get, go with your normal shoe size, as cycling shoes typically run true to size. However, if you’re normally between sizes, for example sometimes you go with a 9 and sometimes a 9.5, it’s recommended that you size up.

2. The best time to measure your feet, or to try shoes on is in the afternoon, as this is when they will be at their largest due to your feet naturally tending to swell throughout the day.

3. Cycling shoes are intended to wrap snuggly around the foot as they have been designed with a specific purpose in mind—pedaling. The goal is to try and provide as much lower leg and arch stability as possible and provide you with a stable pedaling platform.

4. With the cycling industry largely originating in Europe, European sizing is the typical standard. The best way to figure out a specific brand size is use a that brand’s conversion chart. However, below is general sizing conversion chart based off conventional UK shoe sizing.

Remember, all sizing information is a guide only. If you have any questions about bike sizing, our expert team is here to help. Call us on 0330 555 0080, use our Live Chat, or email us.
