The Details
The Specialized Torch range sought to provide as much comfort and high level performance as possible whilst maintaining a competitive price, and its fair to say that Specialzied have achieved this.
Specialized took three materials and welded them together: TPU and mesh at the front and a synthetic leather in the rear combine to make for a much more comfortable shoe compared to some of the top tier shoes. Whilst the automatic response would be to think an increase in comfort makes for a compromise in stiffness, this isn't necessarily the case. The Torch 3.0 offers a carbon-composite sole with a stiff rear and heel cup and still has a 8.5 rating on the stiffness index, so you're only sacraficing a little stiffness for a lot of comfort.
The Torch 3.0 boasts dual Boa S2-SV Snap dials for quick and easy zonal closure that ensures a good and secure fit all day long.
Our Verdict
The Specialized Torch 3.0 Road Shoe offers S-Works style peformance without the S-Works pricetag.
