One of our goals in everything we do here at Rutland Cycling, is a commitment to share our passion for cycling and try to inspire more people to get out and enjoy riding their bikes!
A really important part of this - not just for us, but across the UK - is encouraging more women to take up cycling, and to enjoy all the benefits that this sport of ours can offer. Central to this is the HSBC UK Breeze programme which aims to get more women into riding bikes for fun in a relaxed, friendly environment. Now five years old, the programme has seen over 100,000 participants get on their bikes for one of Breeze's fun, social, local rides, and over the last year over 47,000 places were filled on women-only Breeze rides across the country. This is a 50% increase on the previous year and the most successful year since the start of the programme! In addition, recently retired double Olympic champion Joanna Rowsell Shand has been announced as a Breeze ambassador. On Breeze, she said:
Creating an atmosphere in which all of these women feel comfortable, welcomed and encouraged is so important, and HSBC UK Breeze is clearly doing great work in this area. I recently led my first HSBC UK Breeze ride, and I am looking forward to organising many more and meeting great people along the way.
At Rutland Cycling we've always been very proud of our involvement with the Breeze campaign - we've been supporting Breeze since 2012, and in that time have delivered over 400 rides from our stores. To find out more about our Breeze rides, visit the Breeze Network page on Facebook, or have a look at our regular Breeze rides on our Rides and Events page.
In this video, we join one of the regular Mums & Tots rides run from our Whitwell store.
