Join us at our Whitwell store on Tuesday 13th August from 6.30pm for an evening ride which is to be followed with a reflection from our Managing Director on a 15,000km crossing of South America. From Cape Horn to the Caribbean by bike - inspiration and information for cycle tourists, or just a good yarn!

Ciclismo Radical: Cycling the Length of South America

From the windswept plains of Patagonia to the heat of the Orinoco delta, the mountain passes of the Austral to the salt flats of Bolivia, the deserts of Peru to the cloud forests of Ecuador - Rutland Cycling's Managing Director David Middlemiss crossed them all by bike. Cracked bike frames, attempted muggings and pursuit by naked lunatics on the streets of Lima all feature in this reflection on a 9 month, 15,000km odyssey.

If you've wondered how pick axe handles could become critical equipment on a bike ride, or why it's best not to accidentally tell fibs to the Chilean Army, you need wonder no more. Amidst it all will be inspiration and information for anyone planning a cycle tour, be it year-long transcontinental or simply a weekend in Rutland. The talk is free, and suitably themed refreshments will be available.
