Cycle to Work Day is a national event, championed by multi gold medal winning Paralympic cyclist, Dame Sarah Storey, which aims to encourage everyone to take to two wheels and cycle to work for just one day on Thursday 12th September 2013. We're extremely excited about Cycle to Work Day here at Rutland Cycling and will be supporting it with FREE bike health checks, staff rides and charity donations. Read on for more information
At Rutland Cycling we are joining organisers of Cycle to Work Day, Cyclescheme, and encouraging our employees to pledge to Cycle to Work on Thursday September 12th2013. This day aims to see more than a million people from across the UK, taking part in the biggest-ever national Cycle to Work Day.
Rutland Cycling Staff are Supporting Cycle to Work Day
In support of this fantastic event, we have arranged a number of starting locations in the local area for our staff to meet before cycling in to work together. Upon arriving at work our staff will be provided with a nutritious breakfast and to top it all off, Rutland Cycling will make a donation to the local Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance on behalf of every staff member that rides in as part of Cycle to Work day!
Census data shows 760,000 people now cycle to work regularly (an increase of 110,000 from 2001) - Cyclescheme's ambition is to see this number increase even further on Cycle to Work Day and continue to grow throughout 2013 and beyond with an ambition of hitting one million regular cycle commuters by 2021. Rutland Cycling really supports this initiative and would like to encourage as many people as possible to get in the saddle on the 12th September!
FREE Bike Health Checks
On Thursday 12th September from 11am - 2pm you can bring your bike along for a free bike health check where our expertly trained mechanics can check your bike over and make sure that it is in good working order. We look forward to welcoming you and your bike at one of our stores on the 12th September.
