Specialized Allez - Which Model to buy in 2021?

Redefining the term entry level is the classic, well-loved Aluminium road racer - the Specialized Allez range! Equipped with a range of high performing componentry alongside a lightweight, stiff and reliable frame, the Allez range is no stranger to being a modern day, tarmac tearing, all rounder road bike.

In 2018, we saw the frame shape altered from a more aggressive styled geometry into a more relaxed but ready all rounder to smash miles out on the weekend. The Allez also offers a sturdy geometry for cycling to work needs. If you are in need of a bike for commuting, the Allez has all the lugs in order for you to attach your pannier and commuting equipment onto making it a fast yet comfortable steed.

The Frameset -

Specialized-Allez-E5-3

The Allez is famous using a lightweight, refined and redefining alloy frame. Specialized have succeeded again this year in ensuring that this frame is lightweight to accelerate up hills at ease as well as being able to carry it upstairs into your apartment. However, lightweight doesn't mean that this bike isn't stiff thanks to the refinements made using the Retul bike fit database. With access to the database, Specialized has ensured that the measurements and geometry of the Allez has exceptional overall ride quality.

Returning for 2021, we also see the Sprint comp design making an appearance as a carbon performance without the carbon price bike. With a slightly more aggressive geometry but still constructed from Aluminium - the Allez Sprint Comp makes for a good all round road racer. This has been achieved thanks to a rear stiff triangle making each pedal stroke efficient and effective throughout a race. The frame is also very lightweight yet strong as it uses smart welding technology to reinforce fragile areas.

High performance componentry -

Specialized-Allez-E5-4

The frame isn't the only aspect of the allez that makes it the ultimate aluminium dream machine! Specialized have equipped the Allez range with a range of high componentry to keep you powering, effortlessly, through the miles on your way to work. In the classic Allez we can expect the 8-Speed Claris drivetrain whereas the Allez Elite and the Sprint Comp come equipped with Shimano 105 which is one of their most reliable and renowned drivetrains.

Furthermore, the Allez Sprint Comp are the only models in the range to be equipped with Hydraulic disc brakes in order for precision braking throughout a race and in poor weather. The original Allez has been fitted with traditional V-brakes that clamp around the rim to slow you down.

Wheels -

Specialized-Allez-E5-5

The entry-model Allez comes with Axis Sport wheels, built for dependability and many miles. Whereas from the Allez Elite and upwards there is a move to DT Swiss R460 wheels which deliver fantastic rolling performance.

The Allez, Allez Sport and Allez Elite come with 25mm tyres but these can be switched to 28mm depending on your preference and cycling. All tyres come with BlackBelt protection, meaning you can ride with knowledge that you're increased protected from punctures than you would with normal tyres.
