Clair Parfrey is a Women's Bike Ambassador and Expert Bike Fitter at our Whitwell store. After qualifying for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships at the Tour of Cambridgeshire Chrono, Clair has been working hard ahead of the event in France later this month.
Time waits for no man (or in this case woman)! It's now less than a month till I'm perched at the top of the starting ramp for the UCI Grand Fondo World Championships in Albi, France. The nerves and excitement are starting to build but I know that I am prepared.
My new Giant Trinity Advanced Pro TT bike has been built and I am training on it regularly to become confident with the more aggressive and harsher feel than the Specialized Shiv that I was riding. I have had a bike fit at Rutland Cycling's Whitwell store and the bikes set up was checked against UCI regulations at the same time. It's all well and good having an aero position but you can't ride it if it doesn't meet the strict criteria.
Giant Trinity Advanced Pro 2
Clair has opted for the higher spec Trinity Advanced Pro model for the World Championships - this Advanced Pro 2 is more budget friendly, and optimised for triathlon, with integrated hydration and storage solutions which would fall foul of UCI rules.
- Frame - Advanced Grade Composite
- Fork - Aero Drive Tri, Advanced Grade Composite
- Groupset - Shimano Ultegra 22-speed
- Wheels - Giant PA-2
My GB kit has arrived and it's definetly 'race cut', no more chips for me! I'm trying to eat healthily but need to fuel the days of hard training and have the occasional treat. It's hard to get the balance right but basically on rest days I try to keep carbs to a minimum and only have treats after a long training session. The trouble is that there are seem to be lots of days when training is hard particularly when working full time too!
Life seems to be work, train, sleep, repeat. This weekend was an exception though as I was able to train with 3 friends who will also be going to Albi, this made training feel like fun although my legs didn't agree the next day! I treated myself this month to a beautiful pair of Sidi Shot shoes in white/red/blue with gold highlights - hoping they will bring me good luck (and they really do look great with the kit)!
