The final stage of the Tour of Britain has become more special every year and this year will go down as a tough one to beat. Many people are still thinking of Britain's role as a cycling superpower as the happy hangover from the Olympics. In truth it's been a long steady build by the athletes and those that mastermind their performance but the Olympics probably helped in delivering the 150,000 crowd to the roadside to watch Cav and Wiggo pull 'the old one two'.

Staff rider James Angel went along to the final stage with his happy-snap camera and confirmed that a 150,000 strong roar as Wiggo took to the podium was definitely something else.

It hasn't been an altogether easy season for Wiggo but he has an uncanny knack for ending on high notes. Does this mean the TT crown? I'll say this; Tony Martin is looking very strong.
