Riders who are looking for a high-performance, easily maintained, well specced commuting or fitness bike. The Cambridge is strong, durable and fast with the ability to fit wide tyres, mudguards and racks that are absolutely essential for winter riding and commutes, making the Whyte Cambridge a perfect example of the current market preference of all-terrain flat bar road bikes. Balancing comfort and speed with great success, if you're looking for a bike that can do it all, all-year round in all conditions then look no further than the 2018 Whyte Cambridge.

Frame & Fork

Whyte are renowned for their high-quality frames that are rigorously tested on British roads to ensure its suitability to your favourite local routes. Utilising clever 'fast geometry' to create the Cambridge, a popular choice amongst commuters, Whyte referred back to the geometrical specifications of their high-performance Mountain Bike range and implemented the long wheel base, relaxed head tube angle and shortened stem length synonymous with high-speed trail riding onto their dedicated urban bike - Leading to the introduction of the Whyte Cambridge. The frame itself is constructed from a 6061 alloy that features internal cabling and custom Whyte drop-outs with the capability to fit a rack and mudguards due to the inbuilt mounts. The carbon front fork has excellent vibration-reducing qualities that are sure to smooth out the bumpier roads around the town, with the additional weight saving gained via the carbon leading to an overall, fully built up (tyres, group-set etc.) weight of 10.5kg.

Groupset

A successful urban bike needs to have the right group-set in order to be able to tackle the sharp corners and tight spaces of the city as well as it can climb up the steeper hills and faster sections of road in the more rural locations. The Cambridge is equipped with the highly capable Sram Apex Road 1 group-set that offers a brilliantly broad range of gears via either a single or double front chain-ring. This allows for increased versatility, with the single ring option popular for predominantly inner-city riders whilst the double option supplies a slightly lower gear ratio, allowing for better climbing and making this set-up a popular choice with riders based in hilly areas. The 11 speed, wide range 11-44T drivetrain truly is an excellent climber and makes a fantastic addition to this year's Cambridge - especially at such a low price point.

Wheels and Finishing Kit

All frames come with Tektro Auriga hydraulic disc brakes, with the increased modulation and braking control imperative for a bike intended for busy streets. Furthermore, disc brakes work consistently in all weather conditions which means that you can use the Cambridge for rides all year round! Vittoria Zaffrio Pro 32c tyres with puncture protection fitted to 20mm wide rims work together to create a grippy, pothole proof wheel set-up that provides speed and comfort in equal measure even on rougher terrain. 3M Reflective Decals on the wheels are another nice touch, increasing the visibility of your bike in the darker months of the year and keeping you safer out on the road. Custom Whyte grips and saddle will ensure that your contact points are well supported and protected from the worst of the 'road buzz' that can cause muscle fatigue and tiredness - another fantastic feature that contributes towards the development of a great urban bike.
