You may have noticed that the days are getting longer. Only last night the sun was just about lighting the sky as I walked to the car and it was daylight when I went out to it this morning. This shift in sunlit hours is a signal to many in the natural world. The trees may not be shooting buds just yet but they are thinking about it. Hibernating animals will be twitching in their sleep in burrows underground and Rutland Cycling hire staff will be emerging from their cocoons (where we store them) yawning, stretching, reaching for spanners and beginning to unpack and build the new hire fleet.

The company hire fleet is one of the largest in Europe and provides an excellent facility for people who want to try before they buy or simply want to cycle in some of the best surroundings that the UK has to offer. Including mountain, hybrid, and road bikes, in both standard and female specific geometries, there is something for everyone regardless of skill levels or cycling ability.

The backbone of the fleet this year will be the Specialized Hardrock Sports. These 29er mountain bikes are equipped with locking suspension and hydraulic disc brakes and are a robust yet lightweight introduction to the world of off road riding. Women who favor a female specific geometry can look forward to trying out the Myka Elite.

The road riding this year will include the Trek 1.1, Madones, Domanes, and Specialized Secteur with Trek Lexas and Specialized Dolce for female riders. These bikes will be able to demonstrate the geometries for the range of road cycles that these companies offer.

If a laid back leisurely ride is more your style then why not sample one of the hybrids on offer. The Specialized Crosstrail Sport is the relaxed ride kitted out with hydraulic brakes and locking suspension. If you prefer the more traditional approach to cycling riding the Raleigh Pioneer 4s keep it nice and straight forward.

This year will see the inclusion of Frog bikes for the first time for kid's riding. Frog has come to prominence quickly due to the excellent quality of their children's bikes. Lightweight frames with a decent level of components mean a bike that it is easy for children to manage and will enjoy riding over longer distances. In fact you may have trouble making them stop!

The Giant store will carry an impressive array of road and mountain thoroughbreds. The award winning Defys, TCRs, and Avails will be available to demo for the tarmac lovers. Fans of the dirt can try out the new 27.5 and 29er Anthems and Trances with the ladies' Tempts and Lusts available in 27.5 too.

The Whitwell and Grafham road demo days will see more goodies on offer as Trek, Specialized, Wilier, Moda, Scott, and Raleigh bring their best road candy to Rutland Cycling on the 12th and 13th of April.

More details of the fleet are yet to be confirmed so stay tuned for more information soon.
