What’s got expert advice, speed, amazing weather (hopefully),tailwinds (probably), great scenery (definitely) and more wheels than a roller disco.
That’s right. It’s the Rutland Cycling Road Demo Weekend.
In only three weeks time you’ll have the opportunity to try the flagship models from the biggest names in bicycle manufacture and it’s all completely FREE. Well, just a refundable deposit.
Over the second weekend of April we will be hosting the countries biggest demo day specifically for road cyclists in two locations. Our Grafham shop will resound with the whirring of finely tuned cogs on Saturday the 12th whilst our Whitwell Shop will play host on Sunday the 13th. Trek, Specialized, Giant, Scott, Moda, Forme and Wilier will be there to give the very best advice on their machines alongside the Rutland Cycling team.
Trek have been a leading force in innovating bike design. The OCLV carbon process creates some of the best performing frames on the planet, this coupled with the Iso-speed Decoupler of the Domane has moved sportive bikes in exciting new directions from comfort plodder to thoroughbred. The Scott Foil has brought semi-aero to the masses in a head down speed inducing package that left me grinning ear ear to ear on a recent demo ride. Moda’s Stretto has been a stalwart of the UK Tour Series with a stiff lively frame that delivers a race ride thrill alongside it’s semi aero counterpart, the Finale. Specialized need no introduction, the Roubaix practically invented the sportive comfort concept whilst the Tarmac has been a terror of the tour since its inception and more recently the semi-aero Venge became Cavendish’s weapon of choice for a sprint finish.
The days of a bicycle being a diamond frame with two wheels attached are long gone. Manufacturers recognise the differences between the army of cyclists that now inhabit the British Isles and are producing models to meet the individual and specific needs of cyclists. What does a semi-aero bike feel like? How aggressive is the race geometry? Is a sportive fit really going to be kinder to my back? and most common, which size do i need? The answer to all these questions can be found simply by getting on and pedalling on real road surfaces and on real hills. Demo bikes are all about the chance to get to know and get a feel for the bike you are looking at shelling out your hard earned bucks on; how it handles, how it picks up the sprint pace, how it climbs. It’s the best way to explore a variety of cycling options whilst getting piece of mind about future bike purchases.
Or you could just take some really expensive bikes for a thrash.
Bike fit will play a large part over the weekend too. Experts will be on hand to discuss efficiency, ailments and aches and how to get the best out of your riding, and if you need a more in depth analysis of your position on the saddle we’ll be offering bike fits for only £80 when booked at our demo days or free with every bike purchase over a thousand pounds.
Two locations, plenty of advice and plenty of action make the Rutland Cycling Road Demo Day a must for any serious cyclist.
