Designing your bike

Welcome to the world of bike design, we’re so excited to see your ideas. You might already know exactly what your dream looks like, or you might want to try lots of different ideas to see which is your favourite. Whatever your method, ask yourself the questions below to get started.

What shape is your bike?

If you want to start with a popular bike frame shape, you can use the Molli or POP below as a guide. Thinking of something a little different? Go for it!

Raleigh Kids Bikes

How big will the wheels be? Are they both the same size?

Some bikes have small wheels, some have big, but most have two the same size. But did you know that one of Raleigh’s most popular bikes, the Chopper, had a bigger wheel at the back? Design rules are meant to be broken!

Will it have any special accessories?

Some Raleigh bikes have baskets, some have racks on the back, some bikes have flags, and some have extra padding. You can use any of these in your bike design or could think of something completely different.

Will your bike do anything that other bikes can't?

Maybe your dream bike can fly, maybe it can float on water, maybe it has disco lights and a music player... Get creative, we can't wait to see your ideas!

What colours and patterns will you choose?

Now you know what your bike can do and what different parts you’re working with, it’s time to get colourful. You can choose colours and patterns that show-off its special features, like big orange flames if it has a jet engine, or you could simply choose your favourites.

This is your dream bike; it can be anything you imagine.

Remember to submit your design on or before 9th April 2021 - good luck!
