Specialized Allez 2019 Range Guide
The Specialized Allez, a bike that's heritage spans all the way back to the 1980's as one of Specialized's first bikes being designed and made by them.

The bike has evolved throughout the years with the biggest noticeable change occurring in 2018 where the frame shape altered from a racing bike to a more all-round, weekend riding bike. Despite this change, you can still get a crit-specific bike in this range in the form of the Allez Sprint Comp.
The Specialized Allez is the ideal bike for those looking for their first proper road bike, but with the higher specced models, this range also accommodates for the more serious of riders. All models

The Frame and Forks
The Specialized Allez is famous for its Aluminium frame coming in two different styles for 2019. The Sprint Comp is designed for crit racing, giving you a stiff, responsive feel whilst the rest of the range is aimed more at commuting and weekend, longer riding.

The frame comes in 450g lighter than previous years, this is achieved through the tube butting, which also increases the strength and improves ride feel. Other notable features of the frame and forks are:
- Tapered head tube - increased steering control
- Lowered seatstays - improved aerodynamics
- Taller headtube - added comfort for the rider
- Mudguard and Pannier eyelets - this bike can be converted into the ultimate commute bike
- Carbon forks - all Allez's now come with Specialized's FACT carbon forks for increased comfort, reduced weight, and absorption of road vibrations
Groupsets
All models in the Allez range come with 50/32t chainsets with 11-32t cassettes (except the Sprint Comp), this gives you a good choice for the majority of roads around the UK.
Entry-level Allez- Shimano Claris 2x8 speed
Allez Sport- Shimano Sora 2x9 speed
Allez Elite- Shimano 105 2x11 speed
What this translates as when riding is that as you go up through the range, the gaps between gears get smaller, meaning you'll be able to select the perfect gear for every hill.
The Allez Sprint Comp comes with a Praxis mid-compact 52/36t chainset and Shimano 105 2x11 speed drivetrain, ideal for racing.

Wheels
The entry-model Allez comes with Axis Sport wheels, built for dependability and many miles.
From the Allez Elite and upwards there is a move to DT Swiss R460 wheels delivering fantastic rolling performance.
The Allez, Allez Sport and Allez Elite come with 25mm tyres but these can be switched to 28mm depending on your preference and cycling. All tyres come with BlackBelt protection, meaning you can ride with knowledge that you're protected from punctures.
Brakes
All bikes except the Allez Sprint Comp Disc come with rim brakes. The Sprint Comp Disc is the first time a disc Allez has been added to the line-up. This addition reflects the shift in the market to feature a disc brake version of existing bikes. The disc brakes give you greater stopping power and increased control during wetter rides.
