More about the Forme Calver CX Sport
When faced with steep muddy inclines, sharp corners or step runs, you need a bike you can trust to get you through it in the fastest and easiest way. Forme's Calver CX Sport is that bike. With its cyclo cross competition-focused build and design, the Calver CX Sport, from UK-born Forme, dominates the wet, muddy and sloppy conditions often found off the beaten track.
Forme haven't just thought about pure racing speed with the Calver CX Sport. With a number of unique designs, including optimum mud clearance and smooth braking and shifting, the Calver is a real pleasure to ride - even when you're not racing. A light, double-butted aluminium frame is combined with a flat section on the top tube to make carrying the Calver over obstacles fast and comfortable, while additional mudguard and pannier mounts means the Calver CX Sport is also ready for commuting in the off season.
Following a year of development and testing, the Calver CX Sport has a well-thought-out spec list that includes some high-end kit that surpasses the price tag. A 20 speed Shimano 105 groupset provides crisp and reliable shifting and is combined with a stiff FSA crankset that enables you to power your way past the competition. The 105 shifters are combined with powerful BB5 Road Platinum disc brakes that provide consistent stopping power in all conditions.
Up front, a T700 3K Carbon Fork is combined with a custom head angle to provide accurate tracking and responsive handling, combined with vibration damping to create a fast-responding front end that isn't harsh or too quick. A selection of One23 components and Kenda Cross Specific tyres complete the specification of the Calver CX Sport to result in one of the most efficient and practical 'Cross Bikes on the market.
WHAT ARE CYCLOCROSS BIKES?
Cyclocross bikes are versatile machines, and can be ridden on a variety of terrain and surfaces. While they are primarily designed for riding on a paved surface, you can also ride them on smooth gravel roads, dirt or mud surfaces and improved trails with moderate grades, where the bike's tyres do not lose ground contact.
Cyclocross bikes also work well for all-weather, rough-road riding and make great commuting bikes! If you're looking for a bike to take off-road and along uneven mountain trails or singletrack, then a mountain bike would be a suitable choice. Cyclocross riders and racers dismount before reaching an obstacle, carry their bike over the obstacle, then re-mount.
Cyclocross bikes are not intended for mountain bike use. Their relatively large 700c size wheels are faster than the smaller 26" mountain bike wheels, but not as strong.
