Guide to Returning a product under the WEEE Regulations

What is WEEE? Well, it is now UK law that all electrical items must be separated from normal waste and recycled. Old electrical equipment can be recycled, but it must be marked with a crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. Please do not throw any electrical equipment (including those marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol) in your bin.

Unwanted electrical equipment is the UK's fastest growing type of waste. Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving natural resources and the environment. If you do not recycle, electrical equipment will end up in landfill where hazardous substances will leak out and cause soil and water contamination - harming wildlife and also human health.

How to recycle your old electrical equipment

Whether you have just bought a new item or want to get rid of old electrical equipment regardless, for many people the easiest option is to drop off your old equipment at a recycling site local to you.

By taking your waste electrical products to a registered amenity site, you can be confident that they will be subjected to a monitored and controlled recycling process, thereby preventing these products being sent to landfill. Recycling your electrical products with Rutland Cycling

Alternatively, when you buy a new electrical or electronic product (a GPS or cycle computer for example) from Rutland Cycling, either online or in store, we will take back your old item on a like-for-like basis and send it off for recycling. So, for example, if you buy a new cycle computer, you can return your old cycle computer to us for recycling. This will prevent it going into a landfill site. If you would like to send us your old item by post, please use the address below and we will make sure it is disposed of in the correct manner. We are unable to reimburse you for your postage.
