The Details

The Specialized Recon 2.0 is the ultimate MTB shoe. Inspired by S-Works Recon, with Body Geometry comfort and efficiency, Recon 2.0 puts all that performance within easy reach.

The STRIDE toe-flex technology features a nylon outsole that uses a TPU-injected forefoot for natural movement off-bike and provides a stiffness index of 6.0 for saddle performance.

The nylon outsole features a SlipNot compound which helps to create traction off the bike in wet or dry, gravel or dirt. If the traction is needed in the wet, you can also rest easy knowing the XPEL mesh used through the Recon 2.0 won’t get bogged down with water and will dry exceptionally quickly.

The Recon 2.0 also features L6-Snap Boa and a Velcro forefoot closure to ensure micro-adjustable comfort with a secure fit designed for all-day comfort and performance.

  • Body Geometry sole and footbed
  • Injection Stride toe-flex technology
  • Welded upper reduces seams
  • BOA L6-Snap dials for on-the-fly micro-adjustment
  • SlipNot rubber tread

Our Verdict

Inspired by the S-Works Recon, the 2.0 brings exceptional performance and comfort as well as excellent traction.

Footwear Size Guide

Purchasing a pair of cycling shoes for the first time can lead to a lot of questions. We at Rutland Cycling have over 30 years of shoe fitting experience, so here are some key pointers to look out for when buying a new pair:

1. When deciding what size cycling shoes to get, go with your normal shoe size, as cycling shoes typically run true to size. However, if you’re normally between sizes, for example sometimes you go with a 9 and sometimes a 9.5, it’s recommended that you size up.

2. The best time to measure your feet, or to try shoes on is in the afternoon, as this is when they will be at their largest due to your feet naturally tending to swell throughout the day.

3. Cycling shoes are intended to wrap snuggly around the foot as they have been designed with a specific purpose in mind—pedaling. The goal is to try and provide as much lower leg and arch stability as possible and provide you with a stable pedaling platform.

4. With the cycling industry largely originating in Europe, European sizing is the typical standard. The best way to figure out a specific brand size is use a that brand’s conversion chart. However, below is general sizing conversion chart based off conventional UK shoe sizing.
