The Details
The Specialized Recon 3.0 MTB Shoe combines power, comfort and style. The lightweight shoe is perfect for XC and gravel riding and delivers excellent efficiency.
The Recon 3.0 features a carbon outsole with Pavé-inspired glass fibre to create a Carbon Stride toe-flex. This allows your foot to function naturally when off the bike and provides exceptional power transfer with a stiffness of 10.0.
The MTB shoe also features XPEL mesh to create a comfortable fit that keeps the water out and makes it dry for rides. The SlipNot compound features full rubber coverage on the outsole for excellent off-bike traction.
In addition, the dual L6-Snap Boas and a Velcro forefoot closure provide micro-adjustable comfort with a secure fit designed for all-day comfort and performance.

Purchasing a pair of cycling shoes for the first time can lead to a lot of questions. We at Rutland Cycling have over 30 years of shoe fitting experience, so here are some key pointers to look out for when buying a new pair:
1. When deciding what size cycling shoes to get, go with your normal shoe size, as cycling shoes typically run true to size. However, if you’re normally between sizes, for example sometimes you go with a 9 and sometimes a 9.5, it’s recommended that you size up.
2. The best time to measure your feet, or to try shoes on is in the afternoon, as this is when they will be at their largest due to your feet naturally tending to swell throughout the day.
3. Cycling shoes are intended to wrap snuggly around the foot as they have been designed with a specific purpose in mind—pedaling. The goal is to try and provide as much lower leg and arch stability as possible and provide you with a stable pedaling platform.
4. With the cycling industry largely originating in Europe, European sizing is the typical standard. The best way to figure out a specific brand size is use a that brand’s conversion chart. However, below is general sizing conversion chart based off conventional UK shoe sizing.
