The new Specialized Adventure shoe checks all the boxes in the aesthetics department, but is no slouch when it comes to cranking out miles. The Recon ADV is suited for the rider who values adventure, time on the bike, and needs an all-day shoe that will keep going when the gravel ends.
This shoe has great capability on and off the bike making it comfortable for both activities so you can go where ever the trail takes you. Specialized have designed the toe box to have a slight amount of flex to help with grip when walking up steep inclines. This shoe is designed with a grippier sole with added rubber making sure you stay stable on all terrain!
- Recon ADV's excellent walkability is made possible by Stride Toe-Flex Technology, providing a more natural feeling for off-the-bike adventuring.
- Stride Toe-Flex Technology allows greater toe flex for steep inclines inclines and improved walkability.
- Laser perforated upper features microfiber backing for better moisture management and supple feeling.

Purchasing a pair of cycling shoes for the first time can lead to a lot of questions. We at Rutland Cycling have over 30 years of shoe fitting experience, so here are some key pointers to look out for when buying a new pair:
1. When deciding what size cycling shoes to get, go with your normal shoe size, as cycling shoes typically run true to size. However, if you’re normally between sizes, for example sometimes you go with a 9 and sometimes a 9.5, it’s recommended that you size up.
2. The best time to measure your feet, or to try shoes on is in the afternoon, as this is when they will be at their largest due to your feet naturally tending to swell throughout the day.
3. Cycling shoes are intended to wrap snuggly around the foot as they have been designed with a specific purpose in mind—pedaling. The goal is to try and provide as much lower leg and arch stability as possible and provide you with a stable pedaling platform.
4. With the cycling industry largely originating in Europe, European sizing is the typical standard. The best way to figure out a specific brand size is use a that brand’s conversion chart. However, below is general sizing conversion chart based off conventional UK shoe sizing.
